Handling late returns as a car owner

Late returns can disrupt schedules, especially if you need to use the car yourself or have another renter lined up. Here is how to manage late returns on GoMore, including your rights as a car owner, and the renter's responsibilities.

Renter responsibilities

Returning the car on time

  • Timely returns: Renters are responsible for returning the rental car on time. They should notify you if they anticipate any delays.

  • Extension of rental period: If renters need the car longer than initially planned, they can request an extension through the GoMore app. This can be done via the 'extend rental' function found under the rental booking in the app or on our website. Note that extensions can only be requested once the rental period has started and not in advance.

Handling extensions

  • Receiving extension requests: If a renter requests to extend the rental period, you will receive an extension request which you can either accept or reject.

  • Approval required: An extension is only valid if you, as the owner, accept it. If you do not accept the extension, the renter is obligated to return the car at the originally scheduled end time.

Late return fees

  • Buffer period: There is a grace period of 0 to 15 minutes past the scheduled return time where no late fee is charged.

  • 15 minutes to 24 hours late: A fee of 0.7% of the car’s daily rate (adjusted for dynamic pricing) per minute, including the first 15 minutes.

  • More than 24 hours late: Late fee for the first 24 hours, plus a full day’s rate per started day of delay plus an administrative fee in accordance with our rental terms.

Fee allocation: The extra rental income from a delay is transferred to you once GoMore has received the funds from the renter.

What to do if you cannot get in touch with the renter

  • Contact GoMore: If the car is returned late and you cannot reach the renter, it is important to contact GoMore support immediately for assistance.
